I like how the background is tilted, if it wasn't it would make the image less intense. The characters don't stick out, they almost blend into the background. Except the blue and yellow-ish characters, they stick out more since they land on colours opposite to them (warm-cold, cold-warm). Rule of thumb is that warmer colours bring forward, and cooler colours should push back, but since the colours of the characters are neutral, cooler colours would make the image too depressing, warmer colours would make it exciting to view.
